Comment - The scene depicts kite flying
and the perils passers-by may face. About five kites may be in
the air, one kite is only indicated by it's
kite line.
A blue
edo
kaku with a white
kanji for 'Dragon' (ryo, 龍)
dominates the scene. Another edo kaku below the kanji kite,
and a
fan
kite are floating in the background sky. On the path
between two rice paddies are several passers-by and a
backwards running boy. He wears black and white stripes on his
garment, mabe he belongs to the kite flyers. Next to him is an
elderly grown-up in a brown
yukata. He laments, because
the kite line of the kanji kite has snatched his wig, a
classic sujet, also to be seen by
Hirokage. In front of him, a
girl had been falling down. She entangled her left foot in a
kite line, buries the blue and white chequered kite
underneath, lost her sandals, and lifts her arms in despair.
An elderly lady in a blue kimono with small white symbols and
a brown
obi
rushes to help the girl. Behind the helpful lady, two of the
passers-by maybe having been touched by the lang tail ropes of
the blue edo kaku.
The name giving Shitenno-ji temple resides in the background,
the title is within the upper right, pink cloud like cassette,
next to the upper right red series title cassette (vertical
rectangle). A decent
bokashi shading fills the
upper sky.
