'Yakko Kite'

(Greeting Card)

1930ies

Comment - This postcard shows a correcly bridled Yakko kite ("yakko dako", "Å«„J") with an unusual weird face and hair, and a kite reel. Flying kites is a traditional pasttime for boys on New Year's Day, this postcard is therefore supposed to be a New Year's post card.

The front kanji characters are written separately, therefore it reads "New Year's Greetings" (old fashioned) and not Sh¨ga (ÕýÙR) (name, also name of a Japanese province). "YAMASHiTA" (ɽÏÂ) is repeated in kanji on the back of the postcard. Maybe a name for a company.
