Comment - Kabuki image of actors offstage visiting the market at Asakusa Temple. Two men stand under the entrance gate with a guardian figure behind a wire grill at left and a display of two Edo kaku kites ("Edo kaku", "江戸角凧") below. The standing Edo kaku is decorated with a Daruma face, white kanji on brown background and an octopus kite (tako tako, 鮹凧). The Edo kite laying below on the ground has white kanji on a blue background ("Kanji kite", "ji tako", "字凧"). The fellow at left wears a heavy blue print kimono over black leggings. He carries a wooden bucket and a lantern. His companion wears an unusual shawl trimmed with flowing fringe, and an umbrella over his shoulder. From left, the actors are Bandô Hikosaburô IV (四代目坂東彦三郎) and Ichikawa Kodanji IV (四代目市川小団次).
