Comment - Charming image of a beauty and two young children at New Year's. The woman carries a decorative battledore and a feathered shuttle cock for hanetsuki, a game similar to badminton. The girl holding a smaller paddle of her own. The boy has a beautiful bird-of prey kite ("tonbi dako", "鳶凧") shaped with colorful red and yellow feathers. In the background at the center right selvage, another boy is to be seen. He carries an Edo kite ("Edo-tako", "江戸凧"), featuring the Japanese sun symbol of the national flag. Behind them, the First National Bank building can be seen towering above the street, with pines and a willow tree inside the walled courtyard below.

The title is in the red cassette upper right, next to the poem (not read).
