Comment
  • (Left page) boy with Chinese style short hair is holding an Edo kite ("Edo-tako", "江戸凧") with a big kanji character (" 蘭", "ran", for "orchid").
  • (Right page) a boy is holding a big Edo kite with a large kanji character (Kanji kite, "ji tako", "字凧"), while his mate is arranging the long tail ropes. Behind the big Edo, an enormous kite spool is to be seen. 


Series - "Hokusai Manga" ("北斎漫画", "Hokusai manga") Illustrated book. No volume number. Sketched by Hokusai's main disciple Totoya HOKKEI. Teaching handbook (e-dehon) containing 26 folded sheets (cho) with decent tri-colour illustrations (black sumi, light black sumi, and light vermilion) and text.
