Artist – Utagawa "Shidai" KUNIMARU (歌川 "四代" 国麿) is of the fourth Utagawa generation. His date of birth and death are unknown. He had been active from the Edo period to the late Meiji period between 1850 and 1875. He may have been a disciple of Kunimaru-I (国丸, 1793-1829) also known as Bunji (文治) of the third generation Utagawa school, and using his master's signature. KUNIMARU (II) featured the classical themes like bijin-ga and kabuki-prints, as well as landscapes.


Personal life -  There is only sparse information on KUNIMARU available. The birthdate is unknown. He had been active from 1850 until 1875, the latter maybe the year of his death.


Aliases - Utagawa KUNIMARU (歌川 国麿)  also signed as Maromaru (麿丸), using different epithets.
